Saturday night 10/20/2018 Classmates; Last night was awkwardly wonderful. Why was it, as in past reunions, such a wide range of emotions for me, as it may have been for you also? It was wonderful being with each and everyone of you - more than you know. But boy, was I nervous; and today, I tried to figure out why. I eliminated all the negative reasons; like how old and out of shape I look (you guys didn't care about that); or if I said something stupid or rambled on (you still looked at me with caring, understanding eyes); or if I didn't remember your name (you ignored my cover-up when I acted like I did).  So, once I realized I wasn't nervous about all the possible negatives, it hit me - and hit me hard. It was awkwardly wonderful, because everyone came last night seeing it as a family reunion, to spend a few hours together with those we've literally known most of our lives. Most of us have known each other since our early youth, for well over half a century; and truly understand what each others lives have been all about; because we've all lived through much joy, much fear, much sadness, and vast changes. So yes - I did feel awkwardly wonderful. Awkward, because of my own insecurities. Yet wonderful, because you all instantyly swept my insecurities away. Thank you, Class of '68, for always being there for me, and for being there for each other over the decades. Thank you, for embracing each other with pure love and a lot of care last night, and not allowing "awkward" in the door of our reunion with any of us....it was wonderful to feel your joy and love, which was free to fill the room last night...
